A few weeks ago, I shared the beginning of this special project here on the blog.
At that stage, the embroidery was still just an idea slowly coming to life. A few floral stitches had appeared, delicate outlines were sketched onto the linen, and the tiny baby footprints were only beginning to take shape.
Today, I'm happy to share the finished piece.
And honestly, seeing it complete feels a little bittersweet.
From a Simple Sketch to a Meaningful Keepsake
Every embroidery project tells a story, but some stories feel more personal than others.
This keepsake was created as a gift for a baby girl named Yana. Along with her name, the design includes her birth date, time of birth, weight, and height — details that will always be part of her story.
I wanted the embroidery to feel soft, timeless, and full of warmth.
The floral baby footprints became the heart of the design.
Instead of filling them with solid stitching, I decorated them with tiny embroidered flowers, delicate leaves, and little details that make the piece feel alive.

Every project has a few elements that become favorites.
For me, it was definitely the tiny flowers.
I spent quite a bit of time choosing the shades of pink, berry, and green floss because I wanted everything to feel gentle and balanced.
The small roses, french knots, and leafy branches added texture and dimension without overwhelming the design.
The result feels romantic and delicate — exactly what I had imagined when I first picked up the hoop.

There is something incredibly special about personalized embroidery gifts.
Unlike many gifts that eventually get stored away, a birth keepsake often becomes part of a family's story.
It may hang in a nursery for years.
It may be packed away carefully and rediscovered decades later.
And every time it's seen, it brings back memories of a very important day.
That thought always makes projects like this feel meaningful.

One detail that often goes unnoticed is the back of the embroidery.
For me, a finished piece isn't complete until both sides look neat and carefully finished. While the front tells the story through flowers, colors, and stitches, the back reflects the craftsmanship behind the work.
I always try to keep thread tails secure, avoid unnecessary knots, and maintain an organized back whenever possible. Of course, embroidery doesn't have to be perfect, but I believe that taking care with the finishing touches is part of showing respect for the piece itself.
Since this embroidery was created as a gift, I wanted the reverse side to look just as thoughtful as the front. After all, handmade keepsakes often become treasured family heirlooms, and I love knowing that every detail — even the ones that aren't immediately visible — was made with care.

Final Thoughts
When I first started this project, it was nothing more than a few pencil lines on linen and an idea in my head.
Now it has become a finished keepsake filled with tiny details, careful stitches, and many quiet hours of work.
And that's one of the things I love most about embroidery.
A simple piece of fabric can become a memory.
I hope this little keepsake will bring joy to Yana's family for many years to come.
