How to Use Water Soluble Stabilizer for Embroidery: Easy Pattern Transfer Method

Sometimes the smallest discoveries make embroidery so much easier.

When I started working with detailed embroidery designs, transferring the pattern onto fabric was always one of the most challenging steps. Drawing directly on fabric is not always easy, especially when the design has many small details.

That is when I discovered water soluble stabilizer.

Soft Blue Blooms: A Hand-Embroidered Photo Frame & a Tutorial for Finishing the Back

If you read my previous post, you already know how this project began—from a simple pencil sketch to a printed design, carefully transferred onto linen and ready for the first stitch.

Five Embroidery Mistakes I Still Make Sometimes (And Why I Don't Worry About Them Anymore)

When I first started embroidering, I thought experienced stitchers never made mistakes.

I imagined every stitch was perfectly placed, every thread stayed smooth, and every project came together exactly as planned.

Now, after many finished pieces—and plenty of unfinished ones—I know that's simply not true.

Even today, I still make little mistakes.

The Quiet Art of Choosing the Right Needle

When people ask me what supplies they need to start embroidery, they usually expect me to talk about fabric, floss, or hoops.

But one of the smallest tools on my embroidery table has taught me some of the biggest lessons over the years: the needle.

A New Embroidery Story Finished: Baby Girl Birth Keepsake for Yana

If you missed the beginning of this project, you can read Part 1 here: A New Embroidery Story Begins (Baby Girl Birth Keepsake for Yana).

A few weeks ago, I shared the beginning of this special project here on the blog.

At that stage, the embroidery was still just an idea slowly coming to life. A few floral stitches had appeared, delicate outlines were sketched onto the linen, and the tiny baby footprints were only beginning to take shape.

Today, I'm happy to share the finished piece.

A New Embroidery Story Begins (Baby Girl Birth Keepsake for Yana)

Sometimes the most meaningful projects don’t begin with a perfect plan.

They begin with one tiny stitch.

One outline.
One thread.
One quiet thought:
“What if I try this idea?”

If I Started Embroidery Today: My Simple Beginner Starter Kit

I’ve been embroidering for over 20 years, and when I first started, no one really explained what I actually needed.

Back then, there was no YouTube, no endless blog posts, and definitely no Pinterest boards full of embroidery tips. I was just a beginner with a needle in my hand, a lot of excitement, and a lot of questions. I didn’t know what fabric to choose, which needles were “right,” or why my thread kept tangling like it had a mind of its own. I learned everything through trial and error, and I honestly wish someone had simply said: “Here’s the beginner embroidery supply list. Start with this.”

Cozy Christmas Tree Embroidery Ornament: A Handmade Holiday Keepsak

There’s something about the weeks leading up to Christmas that always inspires me to slow down.

The evenings feel quieter, candles stay lit a little longer, and my embroidery hoop somehow finds its way into my hands almost every night. It's my favorite time of year for small handmade projects—the kind you can finish over a few cozy evenings with a warm drink nearby.

This little Christmas tree ornament was one of those projects.

Floral Easter Egg Embroidery: A Spring Design in Bloo

Every spring, I find myself reaching for softer colors.

The bright greens of new leaves, the first blossoms in the garden, and longer, lighter days always inspire me to start something new. This year, instead of decorating traditional Easter eggs, I wanted to create something that would last much longer than the holiday itself.
